Breast cancer

Breast cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells in the breast begin to grow and divide uncontrollably, eventually forming a growth (tumour). Breast cancer begins in the breast tissue, most commonly in the cells that line the milk ducts of the breast. It mainly affects women, but men can also get it. Breast cancer can spread outside the breast through blood and lymph vessels. When breast cancer spreads to other parts of the body, it is called metastasis.
