Gouty arthritis

Gouty arthritis is a common and complex form of arthritis that occurs when the level of uric acid in the blood is high. These high levels of uric acid can cause monosodium urate crystals to form and accumulate in the joints. Severe pain, tenderness, redness, and inflammation can result. Gout is more common in men, but it can also affect women over 60 years old.
